Man and van in Edmonton

For the jobs that don’t need a full removals crew — a single item, a studio, a pickup or a room into storage. A driver, a mover and the right size van.

Not every move needs a big lorry and a five-person crew. A lot of what happens around Edmonton is smaller — a sofa going from a flat above Fore Street to a house off Hertford Road, a one-bed near Edmonton Green being cleared into storage, a fridge collected from Upper Edmonton and dropped in N18. That’s where a man and van earns its keep.

The idea is simple. You get a driver and at least one mover, a van matched to what you’re actually shifting, and a pair of hands (or four) to do the carrying. No paying for a giant vehicle you’ll half fill, and no doing the heavy lifting yourself unless you want to.

When a man and van is the right call

A single item or two

A sofa, a fridge-freezer, a wardrobe that won’t fit in the car — one van, one careful carry.

Studios and one-beds

The whole contents of a small flat, common above the shops and around Edmonton Green.

Marketplace & eBay pickups

Collecting something you’ve bought locally and getting it home in one piece.

Into or out of storage

Moving a room’s worth into storage between homes, or bringing it back out.

Student and room moves

A room’s worth of boxes and furniture across North London without the cost of a full crew.

Small office bits

A few desks and boxes for a small business near Angel Edmonton, done between customers.

How a man-and-van job runs

Tell us the two addresses and roughly what’s moving — a rough list is fine. For a single item or a studio we can usually price it there and then. If there’s more to it, we’ll ask a couple of questions about floors, lifts and parking so the quote is real, not a guess that changes on the day.

On the day, the crew turns up with blankets and straps, protects the furniture, and loads carefully. Round here that often means a stair carry from a flat above the shops or a longer walk from wherever the van can legally stop. We plan that in advance, which is the whole difference between a smooth hour and a stressful one.

Then it’s a short run — across Edmonton, into Tottenham or Enfield, or wherever you’re headed — and we unload where you want it. Beds back together, sofa through the door, boxes in the right rooms.

Bigger job than a man and van?

If it’s really a whole house, a man and van will only frustrate you — too many trips, too long a day. For that, look at our house removals in Edmonton, which bring a larger crew and lorry. Somewhere in between? Tell us and we’ll point you the right way rather than sell you the wrong size. You can also browse everything we do on the services page.

Man-and-van questions

What counts as a man-and-van job?

Usually a driver and one mover with a van sized to the load — think a few items of furniture, a studio or one-bed flat, an eBay or Marketplace pickup, or shifting things into storage. If it grows into a full house, we’ll say so and switch you to a proper removals crew rather than squeeze it into a small van.

Can you do a man-and-van move above a shop on Fore Street?

Yes, all the time. Flats above the parades on Fore Street and Silver Street are a big part of the man-and-van work here. We know the stairs and the parking, so we bring the right kit and plan the carry before we turn up.

Do you help carry, or is it just the driving?

We carry. It’s a man-and-van service, not van hire — the crew loads, moves and unloads for you. If you’d rather do some of the lifting yourself to keep it quick, that’s fine too; just tell us when you book.

Can you come at short notice in Upper or Lower Edmonton?

Often, yes. Man-and-van jobs are easier to slot in than a full house move, so short-notice work in N9 and N18 is frequently doable. Call or drop us the details and we’ll tell you honestly what we can do.

What about a single big item, like a sofa or a fridge?

That’s a classic man-and-van job. One awkward item up or down stairs, across Edmonton or over to Tottenham or Enfield — we’ll bring the right van and the muscle to shift it without marking your walls or the item.

Do you charge for the trip across Edmonton or nearby areas?

Pricing depends on the load, the access and how far it goes, not a rigid meter. A short hop within N9 is different from a run out to Walthamstow. Tell us the two addresses and what’s moving and we’ll give you a straight quote.
